Celebrating Progress, Pride and Lifelong Learning at Felix House School
At Felix House School, our vision of “My Voice, My Choice, My Lifelong Learning” sits at the heart of everything we do. Our recent Parents’ Afternoon and Celebration Event was a wonderful opportunity to showcase not only the incredible achievements of our pupils, but also the relationships, trust and community that make Felix House such a special place to learn and grow.
The event brought together pupils, families and staff to celebrate progress across the school. From curriculum work and sensory resources to creative projects and personal achievements, families were able to see first-hand just how far our young people have come. One of the highlights of the afternoon was a truly inspiring speech from our very first pupil on roll, who spoke openly and honestly about their journey at Felix House School. Their words captured exactly what we strive to achieve for every learner:
“This is the longest school I have ever been at. I have been here for a year and a half. At Felix House School I feel understood better. I have my own space, sensory toys and an adapted timetable to help me learn. We also have fun rewards like Laser Quest, Big Fun, Jump and summer school. We have lots of movement breaks where we play tig and football.”
Hearing this reflection shared so confidently was a full circle moment for staff and families alike and highlighted the positive impact of creating a nurturing environment where pupils feel safe, valued and able to thrive.
We were also incredibly proud to see every pupil represented by their parent or carer at the event. The feedback received was overwhelmingly positive and reflected the strong partnerships we continue to build with families.
Some of the comments shared included:
“Looking at the progress and seeing how far they have developed.”
“I cannot believe how much work they have completed.”
“So grateful to everyone for all they have done and for helping my children thrive;
“Thank you for the invite. I really enjoyed it and it’s great to see such lovely staff and the pride they take in their roles.”
The afternoon celebrated far more than academic achievement. It highlighted the importance of personalised support, sensory regulation, movement breaks, pupil voice and creating opportunities for every learner to experience success in their own way.
At Felix House School, we know that progress looks different for every child. Whether that is developing confidence, building relationships, engaging in learning, regulating emotions or achieving qualifications, every step forward matters.
We would like to thank all staff, pupils and families for making the event such a success.
The pride, care and dedication shown throughout the afternoon reflected the very best of our school community.
“My Voice. My Choice. My Lifelong Learning.”
