Cascade Homes gather to celebrate Autism Awareness!

The Autism Awareness Football Match on Apr 25, 2026, was a resounding success, showcasing the power of community and inclusion within Cascade Care. This special event, held at Breckland Park in New Costessey, brought together residents and staff from Banks House, Peters House, Hurst House, Armfield House, and Cohen House to celebrate neurodiversity during Autism Awareness Month.

A Day of Inclusion and Connection

The primary goal of the day was to promote teamwork and community engagement in a supportive environment. By moving the event to the open space of Breckland Park, we ensured it was a truly inclusive occasion where everyone could participate, whether by playing in the friendly football match or enjoying various garden games. The turnout was fantastic, with residents coming out in large numbers supported by our dedicated staff.

Highlights from the Pitch

  • Spirit of Teamwork: The atmosphere was electric, filled with celebration and a shared sense of purpose as residents and staff from across different homes connected.

  • Supportive Community: We were delighted to see parents, carers, and family members cheering from the sidelines, contributing to a loud and supportive environment.

  • Memorable Moments: From the competitive yet friendly match to the shared refreshments, the day was filled with "lovely experiences" that residents and staff alike hope to repeat soon.

Gratitude for Our Team

This event would not have been possible without the meticulous planning and dedication of the Cohen House team, led by Elochukwu Onyia, Adejoke Adeberu, and Nneka Izuogu. Their efforts in organising logistics, from venue changes to ensuring everyone had the correct footwear for safety, ensured a smooth and enjoyable day for all.

Registered Manager John McGarvey expressed his immense pride in the team's professionalism and the successful integration of our various homes.

John noted, "Seeing the Cascade community connect like that was fantastic".
